Post-Campaign Needs Assessment and Funding Priorities for the College of Business Administration
The CMU College of Business Administration offers 18 majors through the departments of Accounting, Business Information Systems, Finance and Law, Economics, Management, and Marketing & Hospitality Services Administration and the LaBelle Entrepreneurial Center. The CBA also offers three graduate degrees in Business Administration (MBA), Economics (MA), and Information Systems (MS). These programs are professionally accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier global business school accrediting agency for business degree programs. Less than 400 of the several thousand national and international business schools have received this accreditation.

Employers Seek CMU’s Business Graduates: In 2002-03, more than 95 percent of business graduates found jobs, an increase of 6.5 percent over the previous year. When combined with employment rates among graduate students, the figure jumps to more than 98 percent job placement for business school students. Industry reports also show that CMU business graduates are well prepared for the workplace. Human resource directors and staff throughout Michigan report very high satisfaction with the CMU graduates they hire.
-
The CBA is Business-Connected: Insight from the college’s Business Advisory Council, comprised of the leaders of major corporations such as the Dow Chemical Company and Comerica, works to ensure that the CBA’s programs remain responsive and relevant to the needs of employers throughout Michigan.
-
The Management Information Systems (MIS) department has one of the oldest and most involved advisory boards on campus, and was instrumental in creating the three focuses of MIS: SAP, mainframe applications, and server-based systems. As a result of the board’s direction, CMU developed the premier SAP program in the nation, producing graduates actively sought after by companies like Deloitte & Touche, DaimlerChrysler, Dow Chemical Company, Visteon Corporation, Eli Lilly, and Valassis.
Additionally, business leaders continue to be active on campus, serving as guest speakers for classes and student organizations. Current issues, trends, and practices in the business world are incorporated throughout the CBA curricula and programs. The college hosts a regular flow of speakers for the LaBelle Speakers Series, the Dow Corning Executive-in-Residence program, and Dialogue Day. During Dialogue Day, more than 50 alumni and members of the business community descend upon the business school during the two day event.
